My father, Robert Lynn Lane (from Rogersville TN) was aboard the Tico when it was attacked in Jan. '45. Does anyone have a cruise book from the ship during that time that they would be willing to sell? My phone number is 703-888-7052.

Hi, I am trying to locate anyone who might have known my father. He was part of AEWRON and was on the Big T for at least a year. I believe he was part of a hurricane hunter group. He was also in Vietnam and Guam. If anyone can help me locate any information I would be very appreciative.
His name is David Widergren. I have some pics and other information I can send if anyone can shed some light. Thank you so much and Thank you for your service to this country.

The men whom i served with during my time onboard were all great team mates.my job was to roll under planes coming up on the catapults for launch and put in the holdback pins and after launch go up and throw busted pin overboard and roll under next plane to install holdback pin. Great ship to be on.

Onboard Gulf of Tonkin. It was a bear in the fire room during flight ops. Charging catapults and coming alongside for ammo and fuel. Can't believe a 19 year old had that responsibility could have caused a catastrophe. Well trained by chiefs Lyons,Van Camp and acy duceys. Thanks proud to have served.

My deceased husband's grandfather was a 2nd Lieutenant on the Ticonderoga during the Pacific Campaigns. He was on board when she was hit by kamikazes in January 1945. Grandpa enlisted in the Navy when he was 43 and has been gone a long time now. He has five great-great-grandchildren and I am trying to put together a book for them about their heroic great-great-grandpa.
Is there anyone who still is living and remembers those events of 1944 and 1945? I would love to hear from you. Judy Ford [email protected]

PLANKOWNER: I was there for the Commissioning and the De-Commissioning. We served in Beirut, Lebanon, 1983-1984, which doesn't get much recognition I'm sorry to say. It was a critical time in which a lot of men died and we learned a valuable lesson about the future.

The Ticonderoga was a great boat! (I know it was a ship, but Air-dales like to tick off Boatswains Mates!)I worked on the "roof" and you had to keep aware of Everything! It was where I learned where Viet Nam is.God bless all who served on her!
