My father was an A4 pilot on the Tico he remembers 62-64 so that's what we're going with. I was looking for some pictures of his crash on the deck.
May 2, 1963:
Lt(jg). Frederick W. Hamilton was rescued uninjured from the wreckage of his A-4C BuNo 149602 by Airmen Arnold M. Steele and Gary L. Booker after Hamilton attempted an emergency landing aboard the USS Ticonderoga while it was operating in the South China Sea. The plane struck the stern of the ship, slid up the flight deck and came to rest in a mass of flames.
US Armed Forces, Pacific Stars and Stripes, Tuesday, May 7, 1963

My dad specifically remembers Gary l. Booker pulling him out of the plane. I was hoping there were pictures of this crash and if anyone knows mr booker.

Thanks

Ronald Giunta was my husband. He passed away last year from lung cancer.I am trying to locate one of his shipmates
that might have known him. I was hoping for some kind of proof pictures or documents that would show that he went @WK
ashore in Viet Nam. Ron was from the Penn. area.
Thanks so much,
Diane

Serving on the Tico was great experience, While we worked hard we got to enjoy some great Liberty all over the Far East.
Wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

My Uncle Kenneth Wayne Grout was a tail gunner on this ship during that time. He got shot down on that day and unfortunately never returned. He is still M.I.A. I respect you all so much and would appreciate any information on this ship, the crew, anyone that knew of him. I never met him, I wasn't born yet but all the pictures and stories. He died so young. My Aunt Ruth was pregnant with a son that she named, Gary that my Uncle Kenny, never got to meet. I recently visited the U.S.S. Midway in San Diego, CA.

My Father who is now deceased, was on board on 21 Jan.1945 when the ship was hit by a Kamikaze in the area of Formose Island....he recieved the Bronze Star Metal after he entered a dark smoke filled compartment flooded with 3 feet of water & turned on 6 vavles nessary for damage control...he then led a crew to rescue several unconscious men.

If anyone served with him or has a book from the ship from this time ....I would love to hear from u...Thank U

I only spent 5 days on the the Ticonderoga during boot camp training. We sailed off the coast of California for aircraft training. It was an exciting time as we saw an aircraft go over the side because the arresting cable broke. It was the only time I was on a ship during my 6 years in the Navy. I was stationed in Seoul, Korea from 1959 to 1960 with UNCMAC and then with the 1st Fleet in San Diego. Great duty! Was discharged in 1961.
